Germany brings forward 100% renewable energy generation to 2035
On Monday (February 28) local time, the German economy ministry presented a draft pending legislation, the country plans to accelerate the expansion of wind and solar infrastructure, bringing forward the goal of 100% renewable energy supply by 15 years (to 2035) accomplish.
In the draft, the economy ministry would roughly triple the power generation capacity of onshore wind and solar facilities and more than double offshore wind power capacity.
Onshore wind capacity will increase from 3 gigawatts this year to 10 gigawatts in 2027, and solar capacity will increase from 7 gigawatts this year to 20 gigawatts in 2028.
Offshore wind facilities are also a key part of the plan, with Germany expecting its generation capacity to rise from 30 gigawatts in 2030 to 70 gigawatts in 2045.
To relieve consumers of the burden of high electricity prices, the tax to fund renewable energy will be scrapped in July this year. It is important to note that these regulations are still drafts and details are subject to change.
In recent years, Germany has introduced a series of measures to diversify energy sources, but due to the influence of geopolitical factors, it is very likely that there
